i-SURF researchers (led by Dr. Dan Li) participate in the European research project on Fatigue Benchmark Repository (FABER): The project focuses on preparing a database of experimental fatigue data, which will be easily accessible for creating benchmark sets. Users from academia and from engineering sectors will be able to adopt the data quickly for testing various prediction hypotheses and various computational tools. This Action has been financially supported by EU COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology). Dr. Li’s pioneering work on the fatigue life assessment of railway components (such as concrete sleepers and bearers) has been fully recognized and used in the EU project. In addition, Dr. Li is currently expanding the work to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins for lifetime assessments of the railway infrastructures and components.
