Prof. Zhang Xiaoliang and Mr. Zhang Jun attended the 3rd International Conference on Loss Prevention, Process Safety, and Thermal Analysis in Chemical and Coal Industries

The 3rd International Conference on Loss Prevention, Process Safety, and Thermal Analysis in Chemical and Coal Industries (LPPSTA) was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, China, from 29 to 31 March 2024, and Prof. Zhang Xiaoliang and Mr. Zhang Jun from the School of Urban Construction and Safety Engineering of the Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) were invited to participate in the conference. The conference is co-sponsored by 21 institutions including University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Nanjing Technology University (NJUT) and Xi'an University of Science and Technology (XUST), and hosted by USTC, covering areas involving coal fire disaster prevention and control, mine ventilation and gas management, chemical safety, fire science and fire technology, new energy fire safety, urban public safety and emergency rescue, and so on. Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of University of Science and Technology of China Bao Xinhe, Academician Fan Weicheng of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Zhang Laibin of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Ahmed Mebarki of Gustave Eiffel University of France, Prof. Chi-Min Shu of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology of China, Dr. Imre Miklós Szilágyi of University of Technology and Economics of Budapest, Prof. Katsumi Katoh of Fukuoka University of Japan and more than 200 academicians and experts from home and abroad attended the conference and gave speeches and reports.

Since it was first held in 2019, LPPSTA has become an important international event in the field of safety science and engineering, attracting more than 20,000 experts and scholars from all over the world, and has become an important platform for promoting international academic exchanges and cooperation. Prof. Zhang Xiaoliang was invited to be the moderator of the session New Energy Fire Safety, in which the two teachers actively discussed the latest progress and challenges in the field of industrial process safety and thermal analysis with experts and scholars in the field, and learnt about the international cutting-edge research results and technical applications in this field, hoping to collide the sparks of innovative ideas through communication and learning.

With the successful conclusion of the LPPSTA conference, the two teachers also brought back valuable exchange results and experience, which will further promote the teaching and research in the field of safety engineering, and make greater contributions to the development of the safety engineering discipline, the transformation of scientific research results and the cultivation of talents in the university.
